Length & Volume Guide

The Bombay Hair guide

Find your length.
Feel your fullness.

A little extra volume or a whole new length? Start with the look you love. We’ll help you choose the length and fullness to bring it to life.

01 / Start with your goal

What would you love more of?

More volume

Choose a length close to your natural hair to add fullness with a soft, believable blend. You may need less hair than someone adding a lot of length.

More length + volume

Choose where you want your hair to fall, then choose enough fullness to blend your own ends into the extensions. A bigger length change often needs a fuller set.

02 / Measure, then choose

The best length starts with you.

The same 20-inch set can fall differently on two people. A flexible measuring tape is more useful than guessing from a photo.

STEP 1

Start at ear level

Place the zero mark of a flexible measuring tape at ear level.

STEP 2

Find your finish

Let the tape follow your hair down to where you want the ends to fall. Ask someone to help or use a mirror.

STEP 3

Think about styling

Waves and curls make the finished style look shorter. Consider how you plan to wear your extensions.

Between lengths? Check the options in your chosen range. Your stylist can help with blending and trimming; for salon-installed extensions, confirm placement and length before ordering.

03 / Choose your fullness

Length is only half the look.

Grams describe the weight of the hair in a set. More grams generally mean more fullness at the same length. Longer hair spreads that weight over more length.

Natural volume

Up to 125g

A starting point for subtle, everyday fullness and a smaller change in length.

Full volume

160g–190g

For noticeably fuller hair. Consider your natural density and how much length you’re adding.

Extra-full volume

220g–270g

For a fuller finish, bigger transformations or help blending thicker ends.

These are general starting points for full clip-in sets, not a prescription for every hair type. Available weights vary by range. Halo, Invisible Clip-ins, toppers and individual wefts have different constructions and should not be compared by grams alone.

Thick hair or a blunt cut? A lighter set may leave a visible line where your natural hair ends. Consider a fuller set and professional blending. Very short hair, fine hair and areas of thinning benefit from personal advice before choosing.

Salon-installed extensions

Let your stylist plan the amount.

Tape-ins, wefts, K-Tips and I-Tips are installed in sections. The number of packs depends on your density, placement, method and length goal.

A beautiful blend

Match the shade, too.

Length and fullness work best with a shade that blends into the lengths and ends of your own hair.

A few helpful answers

Before you choose.

Should I choose a longer set for curls?

Yes. If you curl your extensions often, we recommend sizing up one length so your curls still sit longer. For example, if you love an 18″ finish, choose 20″ to allow for the length taken up by curls.

Does the same gram weight look equally full at every length?

Not always. At the same weight, longer hair distributes the hair over more length. Compare both length and grams when choosing a set.

Can I combine sets or add a single weft?

Yes! You can combine sets for extra fullness, and we also sell individual wefts to add volume exactly where you want it. Choose a matching shade and a compatible length for a seamless blend.

What if my hair is very fine, short or thinning?

Explore our Invisible Clip-ins and Thinning Fill-ins for targeted volume and coverage. These ranges can help add fullness around the front of your face or in areas that need a little extra coverage. Need help choosing? Ask our team.
